GENERAL LABORERS’ DISPUTE

CHRISTCHURCH, April 28. The Conciliation Council met to-day to hear tho general laborers’ dispute. A largo number of employers were cited. Many applications for exemption were made. The following were granted: Harbor Board, Tramway Board (on account of agreement being arrived at), City Council, Road Boards, Town Boards, River Boards, and Wainiaka.riri -Ashley Water (Supply Board. The following applications for exemption were refused: Quarry owners, plasterers, brickmakors, gas works (provided exemption is allowed as .at present), other counci's, and Drainage Board. The 'Council then adjourned pending a conference between the parties with a view to a settlement re wages and conditions.
