ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

YOUNG WOMAN SHOOTS HERSELF About 1 o’clock yesterday morning, Mr. Bright. Motu, heard a shot outside his house, and on going, out found a young woman, named Edith McLeod, lying on the ground with a bullet wound high up in her right breast, and with a badly sprained wrist. The young woman, who was in service at Motu, admitted that the wound was self-inflicted, and was caused by a bullet from a pea-rifle, which she had taken from Mr. Anson’s place. Jealousy is supposed to be the motive of the deed. The young woman was brought to town by the evening train yesterday and admitted to the hospital..
