PRESENTATION TO RETIRING COMMISSIONER.

• WELLINGTON, May 1. Mr C. A. Hickson, Commissioner of Stamps, who is retiring on superannuation, received a presentation from members of the staff of the Department yesterday afternoon. Tho -Hon. Dr. Findlay (Minister in charge of the Department), who made the presentation, spoke appreciatively of Mr Hickson’s work, and of his long connection with the service for 44 years. Mr J. D. Ritchie, ex-Secretary for Agriculture, has been appointed by the Prime Minister to represent New Zealand at the international conference of sheepbreeders, to bo held under the auspices of the National Sheepbreeders’ Association of England, at the Royal Agricultural Society’s Show at Gloucester next June.
