SUGAR COMPANY’S PROFIT.
DIVIDEND OF TEN PER GENT ~~ DECLARED. PRODUCTION WILL FALL SHORT OF CONSUMPTION. United Press Association—Copyright SYDNEY, May 1. The Colonial Sugar Co.’s profits for the last six months were £162,632, making a total sum available for distribution of £190,000. A dividend of 10 per cent, has been declared, and £56,500 will be carried forward. The chairman stated that the production of sugar in Australia this yearwill fall short of the consumption. Some importation will be necessary. The proposal to erect another mill at Fiji has fallen through for the present.
