FIRE ROUGE AND SALVAGE.

A COUPS FORMED IN GISBORNE. A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Fire Police and Salvage Corps was hold in the Fire Brigade Station last night. Mr. J. Townley was elected to the chair. A list of business firms .with representatives, who were elected, was sent in as follow^:—Adair Bros., W. Anderson; Butterworth and Co., B. C. Bright; Common, Shelton and C 0... J. Bridge; Cox Bros., M. Cox; W. J. Cox and Co., W. Cox; Bennett and Slierratt, W. Cooper; Hall and Sons, W. Hall; Nicholls and Griffiths, S. J. Ensor; J. Ormond, IV. Graham; Primrose and Leslie, T. Leslie; G. Smith, J. Scott; Somervell and Sons, E. Somervell; J• Townley, A. Townley; Williams, and Kettle, IV. Neill. The election of officers for the corps resulted in' Mr. S. J. Ensor being elected captain, with Mr, lI.Cox and Mi. J Scott as first and second lieutenants, and Mr. C. as secretary. Tho next meeting will, ao held on f - day week. The. names of officers and members are to tie mi-warded to inre Board lor the corps to bo recognised bv the Board. The meeting concluded 'with a vote of thanks to Mi. R Miller for arranging the meeting, and also to the chairman.
