POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION* The usual weekly meeting of th Management Committee of the Povert Bay ltugky Union was held last ever ing in the Masonic Hotel. Present Messrs 11. E. Maude (chairman), L. C Ingram, J. A. Eaton, G. K. Pasley, H Bright, W. Johnston, and T. L. Maud (lion, secretary). Permission was granted to B. A Stuart to use the Domain at 2.30 p.m on Thursday for a footrace with- W Edwards, of Victoria, for a stake o £2O a-side, but it was decided that tin Union could not allow any percentag< of tho gate. ' f In response to a circular letter fron the secretary of the Canterbury Rugbj Football Union, asking for the support of the Union in the. Deans’ memoria movement, it was decided to rep's stating that while the local Union was thoroughly in sympathy with the movement, they could not see their way to make any contribution. It was resolved that a second delegate be appointed to represent the Union at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union by Mr. G. Luck, the present delegate. It was also decided to forward several suggestions to the Union’s de’egats regarding matters to be brought up at the ingIt was decided on the motion of Mr. W. Johnston, seconded by Mr. Pasley, that there be two competitions, town and country, and that the champion town team play the champion country team for the district championship at the conclusion of the rounds drawn. The couiitrv competition will include* tho Makauri, Te Kura, and Muriwai Clubs, and the town competition, embraces the Kaiti-City, United, and Y.M.C.A. Clubs.
