BRITISH FINANCE.
Our. own conviction is that the lack of employment and the depression in trade prevalent at Home are simply different phases of the same great fisoa-l problem, represented in another aspect by the loss of . foreign trade and by a heavy deficit in the national balancesheet. It is conceivable that the natural emergomey my be met by a large loan without trenching directly upon the ordinary revenue, but we believo that no radical improvement can bo effected in the condition of things disclosed by Mr. Lloyd Georgo without some fundamental change in Britain’s fiscal policy, that will enable them _ to maintain their own home market against foreign aggression and to secure for herself a, fair share of trade in the protected markets! of her rivals.— "Auckland Star.”
