OPENING OF THE SEASON
Kia Kalia, owing to their inability to get a full team, forfeited to City-'. This is regrettable, and it is hoped that they (Kin Kalia) —which was hist season one of the strongest teams —will appear in strength and make up for the loss they have thus -sustained.^ The game between Most End and Civil Service was a very fast and interesting olio. M T cst End showed their superiority in the knowledge of the tactics of the game, and alter the hist few minutes of play, by a series of we llplanned rushes, had succeeded m pmcin« to their credit three goals. Alter this, however, tile Civil Service put up a docked defence, and in spite or the attacks of Malloy, Pirio, Roderick, and Hooper (West End), Scott and 1 ayno (Civil Service) repeatedly succeeded m saving their side from further losses. Half-time was eventually sounded, and at resumption of play the Civil Servants appeared determined to retrieve their position, and Stagpoole and Hargreaves made theraselve* very ti'ou >*osomc to tho M’est End backs, wlio lor some time proved to he eqiial to the occasion, hut at last the Civil Servants secured a very well earned goal. No further scores were obtained, and tunc sounded with positions Most End 3. Civil Service 1.
