The annual dinner of the Palmerston North branch of the Farmers' Union was held last night, and was laige y attended by farmers from all over the district. Some interesting speeches w made, among the speakers being the Hon. D. Buddo, and Messrs J. G. I'|son. R. C. Bruce, J.C. Cooper. L. *• Gibbons. T. Moss , T. R. Hoddci. J. M Johnston, Captain Hewitt, Captain Preece and others. In referring to the matter of the Dreadnought, Messrs Muson, Bruce, and others eulogised the action of the Government, and iheir remarks met with general approval. The Hon. Mr Buddo .referred to the land tenure and the intention, of the Government to provide roam, and bridges, which met until great applause, and *also to the benefits of the Advances to Settlors’ Departments, saying it had done much to tide over the recent financial stringency. He spoke or the universal appreciation expressed by the Farmers’ Unions throughout the Dominion regarding Sir Joseph Warns Dreadnought offer. *
