THE BROKEN HILL DIFFICULTY.

ANOTHER prisoner sentenced.

COMMENTS BY THE JUDGE

United Press Association— Copyright,

SYDNEY, May 7

. Howland, a Socialist, found guilty of using seditious language at Broken Hill, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.

(Received May 7, 9 p.m.)

The Judge, in sentencing Howland, said, “You have been guilty, of a very grave offence, and, committed at the time it was, it was exceptionally grave. Possessed of an eloquent tongue, you made the worst use of it, inciting people to a state of rebellion. But for the •coolness of the police, matters would have been much worse.’ „
