MINING.

THE NEW ALPINE MINE

(Special to “Times.”)

GREYMOUTH, May 7

The New Alpine mine manager reports the following jprogress at the mine for the Veek ending 4th May, 190<j ; —The paddock at No. 10 level carried away, and it has been found necessary to renew tho same. The work has been pushed forward with all possible despatch, and will be completed to-morrow. A good deal of ropamu* has been done on No. 10 truck line, putting in new sleepers and rails whore required. No. 10 dl&4 tram has also been repaired, several new rails put in, etc., and two sets repraired in the flat tram. Tunnel work was done in No. 14 level until blocked with quartz and mullock. The reef going north has opened out to 10 feet.
