CHARGE OF FORGERY

NAPIER, May 10. Arthur Frake, who pleaded guilty to stealing a cheque ana forging an endorsement to the same, was committed to the Wellington Supreme Court for sentence. THE “TRUTH” PROSECUTION. WELLINGTON, May 10. Mr. Riddell, S.M., was to give judgment this morning in the prosecutions for selling “Truth,” but the point was raised; based on a recent English case, that the information should state specifically whether the publication was alleged to be indecent, obscene _or immoral. The Crown Prosecutor intimated that in the present case he would place “indecency” as the main indictment. Rehearing was fixed for the 19th just. SOCIETY OF FRIENDS. The Conference of the Society ol Friends, which opened yesterday, was continued to-day. A discusion lasting several hours took place on the question of starting a Friends’ Colony in New Zealand. All the speakers strongly favored the idea. The conference was not open to the press. A SERIOUS CHARGE. ~NELSON, May 10.
