MASONIC INSTALLATION.
PRESENTATION OF P.AI. JEWELS.
The installation of Bro. William Bentley Mackie, W.M. elect of Lodge Turanganui, 1480, E.C., took place in. the Masonic Hall, Childers Road, last night. There was a very large and brilliant gathering of the members of the Lodge and visiting brethren. The installation ceremony was performed bv Bro. W. O. Skeet, P.D.G.J.W., assisted by Bro. C. H. Ambridge, W.M., and other officers of Lodge Turanganui. The presentation officers were : Bro. D. G. Robertson, 1.P.A1., Lodge Abereorn, No. 76, N.Z.. and Bro. T. Ellery, AVAL, Lodge Montrose, 722, S.C. Officers were invested by the-W.M., Bro. vV r . B. Mackie, and are‘as follows: 1.P.M., Bro. C. H. Ambridge; S.W., Bro. W. M. Carroll; J.W., Bro. J. Chrisp; Treasurer, Bro. W. O. Skeet, P.AI.; Secretary. Bro. R. Robdrtson, P.AI.; S.D.. Bro. E. D. Smith; J.D., Bro. W. Pettie.; -1. G., Bro. K. Humphreys; Organist. Bro. D. R. DeCosta i S.S., Bro. J. B. Sim; J.S., Bro. J. J. Uridge; Tyler, Bro. J. W. Lenteli. After the investiture of officers, Br j A. F. Kennedy. P.G.J.D., made the presentation of Past Alasters’ jewels to the following PAL’s of Turanganui Lodge: Bros. W. O. Skeet, AI. DeCosta, F. F. Faram, R. Robertson, A. Sawyer, D. R. DeCosta, G. Primrose, A. Zachariab, and C. H. Ambridge. In handing over the jewel to Bro. Skeet, Bro. A. F. Kennedy referred to the fact that for the long period of 3o years the recipient had interested himself in Alasonic matters, and on five different occasions he had worthily fil.ed the Alasters chair. As a Alason Bro. Skeet liad won the respect and -esteem of all brethren, and his example was one that could worthily be followed. The speaker went on to refer to the many good qualities of Bro. Skeet, an emphasised the fact that the Grand Lodge had recognised Bro. Sheets ability bv electing him as its representative in this district. Bro Kennedy then in turn called on the other Past Masters to come forward to receive their mark of appreciation from their Lodge and for each of the recipients lie had a special word of P1 Bro! Skeet. in reply, thanked the members for the honor done limn and gave the vonnger members of the Lodge a special'word of advice, urging Ahem to take an interest in their Lodge and Freemasonry* . _,* • During the evening odes were sun bv Bros. Ambridge; “The VisitorsA proposed by Bro. F. T. laram, PAL, responded to by Bros. A. F. Kennedy AV F. Crawford and J. It. Kirk; “The Newly Installed Officers,” proposed bv Bro. -M. DeCosta. PAL, responded to by Bros. W. Pettie J.D., W. Carroll. S.AY, and E D. Smith. S.D.; “The Orchestra, proposed by Bro. Primrose, PAL, and responded to by Bros. Chrisp and Hookey; “The Ladies,” proposed by Bro. 1). R. DeCosta. responded to by Bro. H. J. Grieve. At intervals songs were given by several of the. brethren, after which the'singing of “Auld Lang Syne terminated one of the most successful functions which has been held for some time. . ... The presentation jewels were supplied bv Mr. H. Js Grieve, and were handsome., both in workmanship and design. The banquet was supplied by Bro. J. Erslcihe, and was in every way a complete success. • V.‘ .
