POSTPONING FOOTBALL MATCHES
(To the Editor.)
Sir —ln all clue respect to our worthy Postponement Committee, I would like to speak a few words as the voice or mv fellow footbalelrs. To-day (Saturday) as we know was truly a winters day, and a true day for the good old winter gamo of Rugby football. It appears to my mind that the worthy Postponement Committee only study the financial 'point of the affair—viz., “the gate,” and not the supporters of the game. A number of players new tc> tlie management- of affairs in Gisborne assembled on the field to do duty- to their club, only to be disappointed by the stand taken by the head of affairs. I would suggest that the - Union adopt the method"of postponing matches at a later stage than 11 o’clock in the morning. Fully four hours before the time of play, as in the case of to-day, tinned out to be a farce. Hoping tint the Union will give due consideration to all interested in the. sport,—l am, o+i;., “OLD JIORftK ”
