Johnston. - T It was resolved that Mr. L. U. ingram be empowered to approach the Thursday fotoball clubs with a view to having men eligible to take cliaige o games in the mid-week competition. The customary donation of £3 3s was again given to the Referees’ AssociaAiter discussion, it was decided! to further postpone the opening of the country competition until Saturday, 20th inst., owing to the ground at Makauri being unavailable on account of the East Coast Mounted Rifles’ camp. Ihe match drawn for the first opening day wil be played on that date. Mr. J. Newton was elected captain ot the team to visit Tologa Bay on Monday next, and Mr. L. 0. Ingram was appointed manager. It was decided to accept the suggestion of the VVainpu sub-Union that Mr. H. M. Walker be appointed referee. Ingram brought up the question of late starting in the matches, especially in the Thursday games. Mr. W. Johnston,, who acted as special delegate to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union, held in Wellington last week, presented his report, which was received and adopted. A vote of thanks to Mr. Jolmston was passed' with acclamation, and on his suggestion it was resolved to write thanking Mr. 0. B. Dusk, the Union s delegate to the New Zealand Rugby Union, for the interest he had taken on their behalf, also to congratulate him on his elect ion as a member of the Management Committee, of the governing body.
