THE BRITISH MEAT TRADE

REPRESENTATION BY LIVERPOOL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

REQUEST FOR ADMISSION OF

ARGENTINE CATTLE.

United Press Association —Copyright (Received May 17, 9.35 p.m.)

LONDON, May 17

The meat trades section of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, owing to the shortage of imports of American and Canadian cattle, have urgently requested the Government to forthwith remove the embargo on Argentine cattle for immediate slaughter at the port of disembarkation. They emphasise that the past week’s supply of cattle at Birkenhead was 800, compared with from 5000 to 6000 weekly in 1906.
