V Trades Hall Council deputation asked the Federal Minister, of Customs to impose an export duty on wheat, moat, and butter, and so prevent exportation and the increase of prices. The deputation urged that speculators should be stopped from forcing up •prices, and asserted that the people reaped no benefit from bounteous seasons,, and that spectators alone bene-. The Minister, in reply, said .that lm considered that the Government should Peep sufficient products in the country to prevent the raising of prices and promised to submit tlio matter to the Cabinet. If investigation shotted that the producer was not getting a mir share and the consumer paying too - much, it might' help the Government to solve a knotty problem. .
