MOTU. ' \ (From Our Correspondent.) At the Mot-u stock sale on Tuesday, although the weather was bleak and unfavorable, the attendance was large, representatives being present from Opotiki and the surrounding settlements of Motu. Bidding was brisk for wethers and good lambs, but for other classes of stock competition was dull. Twotooth wethers' sold from 9s 9d, 9s 6cl, and 9s 3d, a good forward, pen of wethers reaching 10s. Good lambs sold for 6s lOd anci ss, whilst inferior lots sold at 3s Sd, 4s, and 3s. Old ewes m lamb 3s and 4s. ’ The bulk of the stock sold are for Opotiki. . Mr. A. AV. Thomson, Auckland, is actino- as delegate for the Motu Railway League at tlie railway conference to 'be held in Auckland on May 26th next. On Tuesday a young man named Herbert Jackson met with a painful accident whilst fencing on Mr. P. A\ ngb section, Motu. It appears ho tripped and fell, upon a splintered stump, part of which penetrated his chest. _ On Tuesday night he was conveyed m a buorcrv by Mr. AY. AY. Bridge to Paritutu! on route to the train and the hospital.
