REPORTS OF COUNCIL MEETINGS.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—You are to be commended for the appropriate footnote, placed to the letter of His AVorship the Alayor. There are some in our midst who would like to command the whole of your valuable columns, and because their insatiable greed for notoriety cannot lie satisfied, they are. for the .moment, inclined to “throw off,” to use a vulgarism. Now, Sir, I have one or two suggestions to make as to tho manner in which your paper should he conducted. 1. That the Borough Council should keep constantly employed a staff of, sav, five shorthand writers, whose business shall be to see that the utterances of the Mayor and Councillors arc duly and properly recorded in the columns of tho daily press. Eacli writer to be allowed twenty-five minutes to write off his five minutes’ take, and on no occasion to .be allowed to indulge in a “smoko.” 2. That any sin of omission or commission bv any one of the said reporters shall cause his instant dismissal at the word of His AVorship the. Alayor. 3. That nothing of interest to the public in regard to the doings of the outside world shall be published m the columns of tho press on the morning or evening following the Council meet4. That all advertisers (land agents in particular) be notified that then contracts are subject to the above. 5 That His AVorship the Alayor shall ho allowed to peruse all proofs and alone he the judge as to their accuracy 6. That on no occasion shall the word of liis AVoi-ship the Alayor be questioned or for a moment held in doubt. AAV shall then progress. —I am, etc., AV J. P. G All DIN.
