PUBLIC MEETING IN DUNEDIN

DUNEDIN. May 25. \ public mooting was held to-night in'the Art Gallery Hall to advocate national military training, and was largely attended. Speeches were delivered bv Messrs R. McNab and James Allen, M.P.. strongly advocating compulsory training, and on the motion of J.' IT. Hosking, seconded by the Hon. J. B. Call an, it was decided by an overwhelming majority that no system of national defence will be adequate which does not provide for universal military training. An amendment, which aimed at opposing any increase in military expenditure, was supported by very few.
