SYKES V. SLAZENGEII BALLS. [Puri Press Association.] DUNEDIN, May 25. A special general meeting of delegates of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association was held to-night to consider the question as to whether, the Sykes or Slazcnger ball would be adopted as the official ball of the Otago Association. The opinion among the delegates was nearly evenly divided, and during over two hours’ discussion of the subject considerable warmth of argument was displayed. The supporters of the Sykes ball urged, in addition to.its merit, that Otago should fall into line with the New Zealand Association, which recognised it as the official ball, while the Slazenger supporters pointed out that the Slazenger had satisfactorily stood the test of years and that it was better adapted to Otago’s climatic conditions and asphalt courts. Penally it was decided by a small majority to retain the Slazenger halls.
