PIETERMARITZBURG, May 26.

The Chamber of Commerce, by 19 votes to 12, defeated a resolution in favor of union.

The “Times” Pietermaritzburg correspondent states that when the Transvaal Parliament . assembles General Botha will announce, that union with the other colonies takes place, whatever Natal’s decision may be, and that General Botha has arranged that the adjustment of railway rates on a competitive traffic will come into force immediately the Act of Union has been approved.
