T. H. V. Bower, an Australian ei gineer, discovered, near Guarda, Portugal, a lode containing 50 per cent, of oxide of uranium, which is superior to pitchblende for the purpose, of producing radium. A British syndicate has secudel the control of the Portuguese properties.
