ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES.

WELLINGTON, May 26. The arrivals in New Zealand during April last were 2372 and the denar turns 4015. In April, 1908, the figures were: Arrivals 3022, departures 3313.
RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION URGED
AUCKLAND, May 26. At a largely attended conference, of representatives of various railway leagues in the province to-day, resolutions were unanimously passed urging the Government to with the construction of Coast railway and extension of North Auckland Main Trunk line.
DEATH IX A CAB.
CHRISTCHURCH. May 26
A middle-aged woman, who arrived in town by the north train to-night, died in a cab while being driven to a residence in the city. Her name, according to a bank book found in her possession, was Agnes Morton Crown, a resident of Christchurch.
