WOMEN AND JURIES.
It is contrary to the spirit of justice, of course, that a jury should be moved bv sentiment in any case that corner before them, but we cannot see any practical method whereby sentiment can. be locked out of the jury box. It is a little surprising that the advocates or the introduction of women into the various spheres or public life and public duty have never put forward any claim to their right to act on juries. In cases where young and attractive women have to stand their trial, it might be that the ends of justice would be better served by a jury of women than by a jury of the other sex. In the meantime, however, we must continue to trust to the honest intentions of tne average male juryman.— ‘The Dominion.”
