CIAHL CASES
Judgment by default was given for the plaintiff in the following civil cases: Evans, Nield, and Co. (Mr Bright) v. AVm. Brown Oman, claim £56 13s 7d, and costs £3 18s; Common Shelton, and Co. .(Air Stock) v. same, claim £l2 15s 2d, and costs £1 10s 6d ; John Frank Pettie (Air F. AV. Nolan) v. AValter Poole, amount of p.n. £35 LOs 3d, and costs £2 14s. Judgment was also given for Plaintiff by default in tlie case of Henry Stevenson (Air Barnard) v. Samuel Richard Allen Geange, for £l3 13s 6d, the value of a dray .and work done, and costs £1 17s 6d. The case of Alary AlcNeil (Air Bright) v. John Robert Redstone (Air L. T. Burnard) claim for £l3 Os Id, value of articles of clothing entrusted to defendant’s care on December 21, (.908, for safe delivery at Hau'iti, was adjourned for the evidence of plaintiff to bo taken at Tologa Bay. A DISPUTED ACCOUNT. Henry Stevenson, Te Ivaraka (Air Burnard) proceeded against J. H. -McGregor (Air Stock) to recover the sum of £l4 3s 4d for repairs to a plough and spring cart. The sum of ai9 i(ss 3d •was paid "into court, but after hearing the evidence His Worship gave judgment for £3 in addition with costs amounting to £1 9s. CLAIM FOR MONEY LENT. Harry Pool (Air Stock) proceeded against J. v Garmetti to recover the .sum of £B6 for monies lent. The evidence of defendant, taken in AA fel!iiigton was read, and the defence was that the monies were not lent, but were advanced for' tlie purposes of betting. His Worship, after hearing the evidence for the plaintiff, decided in his favor, and gave judgment for the full amount claimed with £9 3s costs.
