THE NEW ALPINE MINE

Tito New Alpine mine manager reports for the week ending 25th in'st. as follows: —During the week work was confined to stoping over No. 14 level, principally in stones 1,2, 4 ,aiul 6. In stopes No. 1 and 2 the reef remains a large size, and averaged Bft to Bft Gin in width. A little fine gold was seen close to the hanging wall in No. 2 stope. In No. 4 stope the reef is pinching, and measures sft,.but should open out again in the next stope. In No. G stope wo are stoping north and south. The stope was beat south to ascertain the dimensions of the reef south of the middle winze from No. 12, and it is opening up well.in the.south face. There are ten feet of reef in the top of the stope, and pinches at the bottom. A.s we are at the bottom of 'the reef hero (the reef striking north). In the face going north (stope) there is an average of 6ft of reef. Two hundred and six tons were paddocked for the week, making a total »f 744 tons.
