POVERTY BAY COURSING CLUB

Arrangements have been completed for the Poverty Bay Coursing Club s opening meeting at the Park l acecourse on Thursday and Friday next. A lai’"e number of entries have been received from outside, and the meet m< r should be a most successful one. Eight celebrated dogs, including three Waterloo Cup winners, arrived by the boat from south on Saturday morning, iiml. five more arc expected to anivo rrom Auckland on Wednesday. Especial interest attaches to the running oi a highly-bred English dog, the property of an Oamaru owner, which will make its first appearance on a plumpton course at the Gisborne meeting. The management claim to have erected an up-to-date plaftorm over the escape, which is a long way ahead oT anything previously used. The hare runs under the plaftorm before passing through the escape, and has thus a much bettei tioneers, report the following prices realised at their produce sales on Saturday : —Fowls Is 3d to- 2s, roosters Is (id to 2s 9d, eggs 2s Id to 2s. 2d, butter l potatoes 6s 6d cwt, inferior os to 7s sack, onions Id lh, 7s 6d cwt. kumeras Id to lid lh, pears IRI to 2UI. 10, lemons Cd doz, small vegetables at usual quotations. chance of getting away. Morse, is negotiating with the railway authorities with a view to arranging for special trains to suit the convenience of country- .patrons. Ladies are reminded that they can procure free tickets of admission; only at Messrs C. Morse’s and W. Miller’s.
