SCULLING.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. Tho date for the match between Arnst and Webb for the sculling championship of tho world is, drawing near, it being less than four weeks distant. Arnst has gone into residence in a cottage just opposite the finishing post and consequently his training operations cannot be viewed daily by townspeople. e is, however, doing steady work, going out everv day with his pacemaker (Fogwell). The champion is getting down to his proper weight and, irom all reports, promises to go into his boat on June 22nd a better man than when he defeated Webb. His party are quite confident of their chances, but they are not going to overlook anything that may serve to make their mail fit and well. . Tho challenger, who is being paced by George Whelch, is training from his shed at Aramoho. According to the statements of those in a position to know, he has overcoriio -tlio trouble which practically disabled him in December last, and is now as fit as the proverbial fiddle. His stylo has reverted to that which was adopted by him when he won his big victories, and it is confidently expected that he will on Juno 22nd recover his lost laurels.Mr R. Coomhes, editor of the "Sydney Referee,” intends to visit Wanganui to witness the race.
