POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION

The usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held last evening. Present: Messrs H. E. Maude (chairman), H. Bright, W. Johnston, J. A. Eaton, J. S. Mauehop, and E. L. Maude (hon. sec.). Mr. L. 0. Ingram, manager of the representative team that visited Tologa Bay last week, submitted' a satisfactory report, mentioning the splendid treatment received by them from the AVaiapu sub-Union, and also commenting on the excellent behavior of the members of the team, both on and off the field. —It was decided to write thanking the sub-Union for their hospitality to° the team, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Ingram »*>r his capable management of the. team. A number of additional players were passed for some of the c) übs, and medical’ expenses were refused on behalf of a couple, of injured piayers, as the necessary rules had not oeen complice with. The secretary of the Whatatutu subUnion wrote forwarding the suggested boundaries for their district. —Recoiv ed.

An application was received from a member of the Alhambra Club for transfer to the Star Club.—lt was decided to hold the matter over in order to obtain the consent of the Alhambra Club.

Mr. J. J. Rowley, headmaster of the Gisborne School, and Mr. John Knight, senior prefect of the Patutahi School, wrote thanking the Union for the gift of school footballs.

Mr, J. H. Doyle, secretary of the Hookey Association, wrote, expressing the appreciation of his Association at the treatment accorded to the body by the Union.—Received.

The secretary of the United Club wrote asking for the transfer of H. Kelly, and R.* Morse to his club from Kaiti-City. —It was decided to refer the matter back to the Kaiti-City Club. Similar applications in the. case of A. J. Neyton from Star to Alhambra, and R. J. Huston (City to Star) were dealt with in a like manner. A letter was read from Mr. W. D. Lysnar, Mayor, stating that lie had learned that it was the general opinioli of the members of the Union that he had expressed disapproval of the way the Union was managing and controlling the Victoria Domain. He asked the Union to accept the assurance that he had no complaint against the Union, which ho considered was quite entitled to control and manage, the grounds as it' thought proper. He further stated that his complaint was against the Borough Council for having leased the grounds, as be considered the borough should have retained and controlled its own ground. He coiTofaded by wishing the Union a successful and prosperous year. - The colors of black, with a green sash, were granted to the Defence Cadets. A number of accounts were passed for payment. . Messrs Douglas Bros, wrote offering to donate three gold medals for trophies to be allotted' by the Union to members of the representative team on tour. —The offer was accepted thanks. , r - i ™ i It was resolved that the United Club be written to asking for a reason as to w hy they had played a junior man in their match with Kaiti-City last oaturday, such player not being passed as a member of their club. . An application was received from the secretary of the Poverty Bay Coursing Club (through Mr. L. O. Ingram) asking for the Thursday matches to be postponed this week on account of t re meeting at the club’s Plnmpton.—lt was decided that, while the Union are in thorough sympathy with the coursing club, they cannot see their way to accede to - the request. Several minor improvements to the ground were discussed, and the meeting terminated.

The members of tlie Kaiti-City juniors are requested to meet at the Royal Hotel at 7.30 to-night for practice The members of the Gisborne hootball Club are requested .to meet tonight and to-morrow night > at ■ the club’s training room Lysnar s Ha 11.
