COURSING.
POVERTY BAY CLUB
The arrangements for the inaugural meeting of the Poverty' Bay Coursing .Club are well in hand, and given fine weather everything points to a most successful, gathering at the Te Hapara ■plumpton to-morrow and Friday. The hares were inspected by the officials of the club yesterday, and were found to be in first-class condition. It is the wish of the club that no hares shall be killed during the meeting, and it is mot anticipated that many wi-fi be. The club is, however, at a considerable disadvantage in tins respect, as owing to their having been on the ground for such a- short time, some of the hares have not become perfectly familiar with the adequate escapes that have been provided. 7t is expected by the management that when* all jbhe improvements have been completed, in a short time, the club will bo in a position to compare favor.il)'y with any similar institution in the Dominion. The draw for the Maiden Stakes takes place to-night, apt! owners ot dogs are reminded that final payments in connection with this event are due before 9 p.m. at Mr. C. Morse’s saloon, where the draw will take place.
