BERLIN, Juno 1
With the object of defeating the succession duties, the Conservatives on the Reichstag’s Finances Committeo coalesced with the Centre. Subsequently, after a stormy scene, the National Liberals, Radicals, and Socialists protesting against this inequitable attitude, withdrew, whereupon the Conservatives and Cefitre rushed through new or increased indirect taxes totalling £19,350,000 sterling, including duties on lighting and cooking apparatus, spirits, cosmetics, beer, tobacco, railway tickets, matches, grain for milling and export, and coal. Also four million sterling will bo derived from duties on stocks and shares, and three million from increased land values, and land transfer charges. There are indications tliat Princo Bulow is willing to make terms with the Clericals and Conservatives.
