The “Lancet” deals with the hotcross bun. It appears that, in the ordinary variety, there is quite an appreciable quantity of alcohol. Thus a bun weighing 2-J-o« was found to contain 7.2 grains of alcohol, or as much as is contained in a third of a fluid ounce, of beor. Twenty buns contain approximately as much alcohol as a tumbler of beer! Weight for weight adds the “Lancet,” the bun contains rather more, nutriment than bread.
