A TUBERCULOSIS EXHIBITION.

OPENED IN WHITECHAPEL. SENSIBLE SPEECH BY JOHN BURNS. J., United Press Association —Copyright. (Receiced June 3, 9.37 p.m.) - LONDON, June 3. Mr. John Burns, President of the Local Government Board, opened a tuberculosis exhibition in Whitechapel, intended to illustrate the method of 'preventing the disease and minimising its effects where it exists. Mr. Burns claimed that Britain led the crusade against tuberculosis, remarking that the direct remedies were higher wages, less drink, less betting, and more regular work, adding that open windows would stamp out consumption in a generation. A number of suffragettes were rejected for persistently interrupting him.
