Mr. Hofmeyer’s acceptance, of the invitation to join the deputation conveying the South African draft Constitution to London is interpreted as indicating the failure of the anti-Union agitation, and the safe passage of the ’South African Constitution.
CONSTITUTION ADOPTED BY TRANSVAAL AND ORANGJA. A TRIBUTE TO BRITISH SETTLERS (Received June 3, 10.35 p.m.) PRETORIA, June 3; Both Plouses of the Transvaal Parliament and also of the Orangia Parliament have adopted the Constitution. Mr. Fischer, Premier of Orangia, remarked that disregarding the manner in which their introduction to the country had been effected, and in view of the hardships they, had undergone, none but a. viciously prejudiced man could l deny that the British settlers were an acquisition to the State.
