A REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT

AUCKLAND, Juno 4. The only student of the Auckland University College who hail the lionoi of having the M.A. degree conferred upon him this year is Mr. E. Chixty, who won the distincton under most exceptional circumstances in that he' has been totally blind s'ince birth. In refering to the fact at the capping ceremony to-day, Mr. Joynt (Registrar of the University of New Zealanu] classed it as one of tho most remarkable achievements ever recorded in New Zealand. When Mr Cliitty had lus B.A. decree conferred upon him two years ago, ho (the speaker) said it was. a very remarkable performance, but now he would go further,., and say Ins subsequent’ success was not only very remarkable but extraordinary.
