' Mr Douglas Young, British ViceConsul,. in his annual report on German East Africa, presents a terrible picture of the Hereros’ rebellion. From 1905 till 1907 it is estimated that 120,000 native men, women, and children perished, 75,000 being victims of war aijd pestilence in the famine year ending March, 1907, alone. He adds:
