THE DENTISTS' ACT.
CHARGES DISMISSED

At the Gore Police Court a series of live prosecutions under the Dentist’s Act was preferred against T. A. B. W r iugfield, registered dentist, and W. T. Splatt. The presecutors were the Otago Odontologieal Association. W 7 ingfield was charged with permitting. Splatt, an unregistered person, to carry on practice in his name and not under his immediate supervision. W’ingfield and Splatt were charged that they wer© an association carrying on practice, tho firm not consisting wholly of registered dentists. Splatt alone was charged with performing certain dental operations, not being registered. Splatt commenced business in Gore “as an American Painless Dental Company,” and m an advertisement attached the name or ■Wingfield, who is an Invercargill registered dentist. The defence stated thab Splatt did this unknown to W ingfield,' who subsequently repudiated it and liad it altered. Personalty counsel stated W’ingfield had nothing to do with the Gore business. All tlie charges* were dismissed, costs being allowed to Wingfield. '
