Total for eight wickets ... 62 Bowling analysis.—Laver 4 for 25, Macartney 3 for 28, AVhitty 1 for 4. The wicket was sodden, and the start was delayed owing to the dull weather. The attendance was moderate. The second wicket fell for 45. Nason batted 70 minutes. _ Falcon played a sound innings lasting 135 minutes. The third wicket was down for 88, and the fourth for 95. Bache was dismissed by a smart catch by Hartigan in the slips off the second ball he received. Laver by good bowling kept down the scoring. The seventh wicket fell’ with the score at 117, and the eighth at 150. McLeod played a dashing innings, and made some powerful drives, and was dismissed by a remarkable catch by Trumper at mid-on. He had previously given a chance when 21 to O’Connor, off AVhitty. Being 153 runs in arrears, Cambridge followed on, and when play ended had eight wickets down for 62. The first wicket fell for 4, the second for 20, third and fourth for 27. Macartney captured Collins and Buchanan in the same over. The fifth wicket fell for 28, sixth for 36, seventh and eighth for 61. Lockhart succumbed first ball.
In the match Worcester v. Surrey, Cuffo took six wickets for 36. TEN-WICKET VICTORY. The recent 10-wicket victory by the English eleven over the Australian team noTV in England is not the first Test that has been won by this margin.
