POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION

The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty. Bay Rugby Union was held last night in the Masonic Hotel. Present: Messrs H. E. Maude (chairman), J. S. Wauchop, L. O. Ingram, J. A. Eaton, H. Bright, W. Johnston, G. K. Pasley, and E. L,. Maude (hon. sec.). The secretary- of the Wairoa subUnion wrote asking that the Poverty Bay representative team include AVairoa in their proposed itinerary.—lt was resolved that a reply be sent stating that the Union cou.d not accedo to tho request, but proposing that tho Wairoa team visit Gisborne. The AVaiapu Union forwarded a cheque for £6, being their contribution towards the expenses of the team which visited Tologa recently.—Received. Letters of thanks were read from the Matawhero and Makauri Schools thanking the Union for the donations of footballs. A cheque for £29 12s 6d was received ■fro'm the secretary of the New Zealand ilugby Union, as the local Union’s proportion of tho profits accruing from the tour of tho British team. It was further stated that there would probably be a further allocation, pro rata, of £IOO.

The Town Clerk wrote stating that the Reserves Conservation Committee of the. Borough Council would confer with" tlio Rugby Union at a date to bo arranged.—Received. A number of players were applied for and were passed as members of the different clubs.

The secretary of the Alhambra Football Club wrote agreeing to the transfer of L. Wilkinson from their club to the Star Football Club. —It was decided to accede to the player’s request. It was decided that the players injured in tho games on Saturday, J. Bowman and P. Hickey, be placed on the accident list of the Union.

Some discussion took place regarding the late starting of matches, and also on -a proposition to play shorter spells in the first game on Thursdays.—ln the former case it was decided to refer the matter to the Referee’s Association, and the latter question was field over pending an expression of opinion from the Thursday Clubs. It was decided to advertise a general mooting of the Union for Monday night, ’2lst prox. The secretary of tho Auckland Rugby Union wrote suggesting August 14th as the. most suitable date for a representative fixture between Auckland and Poverty Bay. The‘question of the proposed tour was discussed at length, the itinerary being: Auckland, Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Napier, and Hastings. In view of the tour a match between the Waiapu sub-Union and tho local representatives was mentioned for August 7th, and it was decided that it bo endeavored to arrange a match between a team from the throe senior count'-;: clubs, and a picked Team from the Mangatu sub-Union, to be played on Thursday, August sth. Minor improvements to the ground were discussed and authorised, and the meeting terminated. THE ALL BLACKS IN AUSTRALIA —ANOTHER DEFEAT. The “Kangaroos” again' defeated the All Blacks to-day, by 27 points to 20. {Received June 7, 8.5 p.m.) The New South Wales team was the same as Saturday, except that Hed.ey displaced Woolley at back, the Non Zealand team was as follows: —T ullhack, J. Spencer jthree-quarters, .Hooker Buckland, and House; five-eighths, Rowe and Barber; half, Houghton; forwards, King, Spencer, McDonald, 7,yrne, Trevarthen, and Sullivan. Ine weather was fine, and the attendance numbered 30.000. The Kangaroos again proved themselves the faster and better combination, and, as in the openin' 1 ' match, the Blacks were slow in crettfilg going, their play tn the second iialif showing an all round improvement and some brilliant passes. Hr the first spell the home team put up 16 to the visitors’ 5, Trevarthen obtaining a- try, which was converted. In the second half, Hooker, King, and Barber sccur•ed tries, Byrne converting all.
