WELLINGTON, June 8. The Government has appointed Messrs J K. Warburton- (Auditor and Con-troller-General), R. J. Collins (Secretary to the Treasury), W. Heyes (Commissioner of Taxes),, and W. R. Morris (Assistant-Secretary to tlie Post «and Telegraph Department) to examine tho system of 'keeping accounts of the various departments of the public service, with the object of determining whether it is possible .to re-arrange and simplify the procedure incidental thereto'and reduce ,the cost of administration, and to formulate proposals for any improvements which may be deemed necessary. Tlie committee is -also to carefully consider tho relative merits of the “post” and “pre-audit” systems of accounts and report thereon.
