AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS
[Pun Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 9. The Wellington Town Hall was well filled this evening, when the. finals for the provincial amateur boxing chainpionships were* concluded. lcncy tlvc Governor and the officers or the two.warships/in port attended. The sport was excellent in every way, and the best order prevailed. Dr. Napier McLean was referee. The following won the championships:—Featherweights: L. Porter (AVeLlington); Cairns fought him three rounds with a damaged hand. Bantam-weights: AA ; . F AVenand (AVellington). Lightweights: AV. Davis (AVellington) was given the championship, McFarland, who was to have'met him. having sustained a damaged hand in ..his heat.. Welter-weights: O. Tancrod (Pet-one). Heavy-weights: AV.
