THE POSTPONEMENT OF PARLIAMENT.
PROTEST FROM WELLINGTON. PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 10. A meeting of protest against tho postponement of Parliament is to bo held at tho Town Hall on Tuesday evening. The Mayor will preside, and all the Wellington City mmebers of Parliament will speak. Tho meeting is the outcome of a gathering of commercial and professional men held yesterday. The proceedings then weremf a private nature, and it is reported that there was a unanimous opinion expressed that the postponement of the business of the country until September or October, in order to allow the Prime Minister to go to London, was an altogether undesirable thing to do. It was resolved to” put tho matter before the citizens, hence tho meeting. Mr. W. F. Massey, leader of the Opposition, when approached promoters, favored the idea ot the meeting yesterday, and agreed that the proceedings should be of the nature of a citizens’ protest, and not associated with the Opposition party as such. There is a probability, however, of Mr. Massey being one of the speakers.
