MEETING AT NAPIER.

NAPIER, June 13A public meeting was held in the Theatre Royal on Saturday night, which was attended by over two hundred persons, when it was resolved by acclamation “Whereas it is the deity of every adult male to take part in the defence of the Dominion, this meeting is strongly in favor of the Government introducing legislation to provide for the universal military training of our "voun< T men in lieu of the voluntary system.” An amendment, recognising the need for effective . defence, but stating that compulsory and universal military service was neither_ necessary nor desirable, found only six supporters.
