An incident of a somewhat unusual nature occurred hero "recently (states the “Otago Daily Times”) on a tramcar near the Anderson’s Bay terminus. The car was about half full of passengers, and another contingent came aboard. As they were sitting in their seats a coin was heard to drop on the floor with a substantial thud. After a little search a sovereign was found, and strange to say it went hogging for an owner for several minutes. It was then ascertained, much to the owner’s surprise, that it had dropped from a lady’s hand-bag. It only needed that a bogus owner should have come forward to make the onlookers believe that stories of this land do actually have tlieir origin outside the comic papers.
A movement is afoot in "Westport to hold a large public meeting some time this month for the purpose of recommending to the Government The names of ten public men from which to select seven for appointment to the Westport Harbor board. The members of the present Board shortly go out of office through effluxion of the time for which they were appointed.
