Lieutenant Shackleton, while, at London, was the recipient of 400 telegrams of congratulation from all parts of the world. Captain Collins, the representative of the Australian Commonwealth, personally conveyed the Commonwealth felicitations to him.

The National Geographical Society of the United States has awarded Lieutenant Shackleton the Hubbard gold medal.
