WHOLE FAMILIES KILLED. FURTHER SHOCKS EXPECTED. United Press Association —Copyright.) : PARIS, Juno 14. The line of greatest destruction v as north-east from Aix to the river Durance. Shocks began with a sound like the roll of thunder, amidst a tempest - f wind. The more solidly constructed * r'filings in the town resisted tho shock, but great destruction was done in the little hamlets and farms. In some cases whole families were killed. Quantities of tents and food have been sent to the devastated districts. The shock was intense all along the French Mediterranean shore. Slighter shocks occurred from Mont-Pellier to Grenoble, Perpignan, and Avignon. Some shocks were felt in the Italian Riviera, also on both sides of Mont Blanc and in Spain and Portugal. A further shock occurred at 6 o’clock yesterday- morning. Waters in wells 'in several places remained tepid for hours. M. Henri Deparville, tho well-known savant, in an interview, published on June. 6th, mentioned the 12th and 13th as critical dates. He predicts shocks on the 19th and 20th of June. SYDNEY, June lo! On Sunday morning a severe earth tremor was registered at the Observatory. It is supposed to have been caused by a. submarine disturbance a thousand miles off the New South Wales coast.
