Co.’s Talune arrives from south this morning and leaves during the forenoon for Auckland. The Tuatea leaves the wharf at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. The U.S.S, Co.’s Maitai returns from Auckland to-morrow afternoon, and Sroceeds south during the evening. utward passengers leave the wharf at 5 p.m. Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Weka arrived from Napier yesterday morning and after discharging her general cargo returned an the afternoon. The U.S.S. Cods Squall is due to leave Auckland this afternoon for Tologa Bay and Gisborne. The Canterbury Steamship Co.’s Ripple did not arrive yesterday, as was expected, but it was anticipated that she would leave Oamaru last night or this morning. The Shaw Savill Cods Aotea is expected here on Monday to load frozen meat for London. The U.S.S. Cods Wairuna is expected to load at Bluff on June 26th, Oamaru June 29th, Timaru June 30th, and should arrive at Gisborne about July 3rd.

Captain F. Naylor, formerly of the U.S.S. Cods steamer Penguin, has been appointed mate of the Anchor Company’s chartered steamer Wairau, which is engaged in the Wellington-Nelson-Motueka service. Mr. Theo. J. Browne, formerlv of the Anchor Company’s steamer Waveiiey, is acting mate of the Wairau.

The U.S.S. Cods coal hulk Lota, at Lyttelton, is to be docked shortly for an overhaul and repairs. A start has been made to strip the copper from the hulk. While :n dock the vessel will he re-caulked and re-coppered, and it is estimated that the latter work will require about 1000 sheets of copper. At Dunedin the officers and engineers -of the Warrimoo presented Mr. F. Jelley, chief officer, with a souvenir of their esteem on the occasion of his retirement from the sea to become chief stevedore for the New Zealand Shipping Company at Wellington. * It has been decided that as soon as practicable all the ships of the Peninsular and Oriental fleet will he fitted with wireles telegraphy apparatus, and according to the new contract secured by the "Orient Company wireless installation must bo made on all its ships.
