THE AUSTRALIAN TELEPHONE SYSTEM. (K'ecoiverf 1 June p.m.) MELBOURNE, June 18. The Federal Cabinet has decided to discard the telephone system adopted by the late Government, and revert to the old system, which allows 2000 free calls. DOMESTIC TRAGEDY IN MELBOURNE. A. domestic tragedy 'has occurred at Prahran. A man named William Laver quarrelled with and shot his wife, and then shot himself. Both are in a critical condition. Jealousy is supposed to bo the cause of the act.
