CORRESPONDENCE.

[Correspondence on public matters is welcomed at all times, but it must bo distinctly understood that this journal is in no way. associated with the opinions of its correspondents. All letters must be legibly written and inscribed on one side of the paper only, otherwise they will not bo published. *An asterisk at the foot of a letter indicates that some portion has been excised.] TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION. [To the Editor.] Sir, —I read with interest your leader on wool-sorting and classing in this morning’s paper, but 1 would like to point out that the classes being held at Napier and Hastings described in the article you published from the “Hawke’s Bay Herald,” are not school classes, but special classes. held at night, under the Manual and Technical Instruction Act, and attended not by school boys, hut by young men, small farmers, and others, who wish to gain a practical knowledge of wool sorting and classing. Wo notice from time to time, men who pose as experts, tolling til's what a large amount of money is lost yearly to tho Dominion through faulty sorting and classing of our staple product, and in a great many parts of the country classes are now being held for instruction in this subject. It might, therefore, bo to the interest of our, farmers if such a class was formed in Gisborne. The High School Board, which is the controlling . authority under the. Manual and Technical Instruction Act, would, I feel sure, bo quite willing to try to meet their wishes should sufficient pupils be forthcoming to justify them in engaging an instructor." -1 commend, the matter to the Farmers’ Union for consideration. —I am, etc., W. MORGAN.
